THE MANCHESTER Newspaper Guild represents approximately 140 employees at New Hampshire's largest -- and only statewide -- newspapers, the New Hampshire Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News, as well as their sister weeklies at Neighborhood News and the newspaper's Web site, UnionLeader.com. Our members work in the Editorial, Advertising, Circulation, Accounting, Information Technology, New Media and Janitorial departments.
Chartered in 1942, the Manchester Newspaper Guild has worked tirelessly to negotiate a contract that provides good wages and good benefits for our members, and to protect and improve their working conditions and rights on the job. We are proud that through our contract, our employer offers the highest pay and best benefits in the newspaper industry in the Granite State. Our strong contract helps our employer attract some of the best professionals in their fields, which has helped the newspaper to be the go-to source for trusted information in New Hampshire.
We are located in Manchester, N.H., the Granite State's -- and northern New England's -- largest city, which was a cradle of the labor movement during the Industrial Revolution. We are proud of that heritage and vow to keep with its ideals. The Manchester Newspaper Guild is chartered as Local 31167 of The Newspaper Guild, the international labor union representing journalists and others in the U.S. and Canada. The Newspaper Guild is a sector of the Communications Workers of America, which represents approximately 700,000 workers.
Here, we hope to offer up-to-date news and information regarding Local 31167, TNG, CWA, and the entire labor movement.
