Did You Know?

Time to Make Strides!

The Manchester Newspaper Guild is recruiting its 2012 team to walk in the Making Strides Against Breast walk on Sunday, Oct. 21.

We invite and welcome all members – current and retired, full- and part-time – to join us in this annual American Cancer Society fundraiser that begins and ends at Arms Park in Manchester.   This is a great event to get involved in a good cause, meet new co-workers, chat with longstanding colleagues, and enjoy a healthy walk along the city’s historic Millyard and riverfront.

Children, spouses, parents, significant others are welcome, too.

Deadline to register and get your team T-shirt is thisTuesday, Sept. 11. You may register one of two ways.

Take one of the pink-and-white brochures located in the newsroom and advertising departments. Fill out the Registration Form side, note your T-shirt size somewhere on the sheet (sizes run from S-XXL) and return it to Kathryn Marchocki or Mark Hayward in the newsroom by Tuesday, Sept. 11. Keep the rightside, the pledge sheet, for yourself. Donations envelopes also are available in the newsroom and advertising. (In filling out the form, please enter Manchester Newspaper Guild Local 31167 in the sections that ask for the Team name and the Company/Organization name.

Or you may register online by going directly to our team page at   http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=47478&pg=team&team_id=1237264   (If you are a returning walker and do not remember your password, contact Kathryn Marchocki at lois.lane1@comcast.net. I likely have it in my files from last year.)

Walkers commit to raise a minimum $75 in pledges by Oct. 18. The Guild will contribute $10 to each of the first 25 walkers who sign up. If you think you won’t be able to raise the remaining $65? No worries. Team members who exceed their minimums are willing to share the wealth.

This is the fifth year the Guild has fielded a team of dedicated walkers from nearly every department in the building. Our enthusiasm is evidenced by the fact that – even though our numbers are small relative to other teams - we have been a leading fundraiser for this popular community-wide event.   Please join us on Oct. 21. Questions?  Please contact Kathryn Marchocki at home at 673-4184, at ext. 206 in the newsroom or by email at lois.lane1@comcast.net or Mark Hayward in the newsroom at ext. 342 or email at mrkhay302@yahoo.com.
