Did You Know?

Sticking Together; Sticking Up for Ourselves

Fellow Members of Local 31167:

Our contract expires at the end of the year, and we will start bargaining for a new one today (Monday) at 1 p.m. Sessions also are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Given the state of the economy in general, and in our industry in particular, we expect these negotiations and the company’s proposals to be some of the most difficult we’ve ever faced. And as we all know, all too well, our members already have sacrificed greatly to help keep the company afloat in these troubled waters.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:11:height=160,width=157]]Local leadership and your bargaining committee understand the problems and issues we’re facing, and also have heard loud and clear from the membership that enough is enough. We are committed to obtaining the best, fairest contract possible, and we are confident we can attain that goal…if we all stick together, in unity.

As negotiations begin, our mobilization committee has prepared some simple stickers, which we ask you to wear proudly. They might not seem like much, but they will show you stand behind us, and, more importantly, will show the company that we all stand united for a fair deal. Some members already have receied their stickers. Many more will be available during the day. If you don’t receive one from your contact tree representative, seek one out, and then put it on. And if you see another member without one, get one for them, too.
